On Friday 14th of February some students from Casebrook had a really cool opportunity to play before the NZ Breakers game.
The students had this opportunity because in 2019 a parent of one of the players entered a competition for Casebrook Intermediate to play before one of the Breakers’ games. Five students from Casebrook travelled to Horncastle Arena to play a 12 minute game of basketball against Kirkwood Intermediate. We won! The students who played from Casebrook are Jake Holmes (R13), Rory Holmes (R10), Hayden Downes (R14), Lee Simpson (R6), Cohen Max (R12). Two previous students also played.
We interviewed Lee who was one of the players. Lee liked representing Casebrook because the crowd got to see Casebrook’s basketball programme. He also liked the atmosphere because it was friendly. Lee enjoyed meeting some of the Breakers players because he is inspired to be just like them. He was nervous before the game because he didn’t want his ankles to get broken but he wanted to break someone else's ankles (FYI this is a crossover move - he didn’t really want to break someone’s ankle!!).
