On the 5th of November was our Whanau Evening.
Whanau Evening is when parents and caregivers can come and observe what the cultural groups have learned over the year. This year we had three cultural groups- Kapa Haka, Pasifika and Korean dance. Kapa-Haka opened the night with a haka powhiri and a couple of songs. After that, the Kapa-Haka and Pasifika group started some workshops. The parents got given a stick with a colour on it. The colour represented what group you are in for rotations. There were six workshops- Poi, Titi Rakau, Hapai Rakau, Noku Te Ao, Te Reo Maori Extension, Pasifika. We then shared some kai. There was chicken, salads, sausages and much more. It was a great time to interact with other parents and have fun.
