At Casebrook we are participating in a programme called Paper4trees.
This programme involves Eco-Warriors emptying their class bins whenever needed.
Every Wednesday and Friday Room 13 Eco-Warriors collect tallies from each class and the Specialist rooms, Tech rooms and office. The collected tallies go towards earning trees for Casebrook.
Throughout the year we have collected 18 trees. At the end of the year these native trees will be planted throughout our school. Our school has saved 25.8474 tonnes of carbon emissions reduced from landfill. Casebrook has also saved 4.6825 tonnes of paper and cardboard from landfill and 37.46 cubic metres of landfill space.
Paper4trees is a waste management and tree planting programme for schools all around New Zealand. This programme encourages students to recycle their paper and cardboard. The students also have to think about how much they use and if it might be a waste of paper. The team at Paper4trees provided Casebrook with 24, 30 liter bins. Once a bin is full the class will empty the contents into the schools main recycling bins. The cardboard will go into our cardboard cage. After it is empty they add a tally to there chart which is located in their classes.
These native trees will attract many native birds. The native birds will make our school even more beautiful. Hopefully Casebrook can keep earning more native trees so our school can be nature friendly!
