A group of 35 students visited Aoraki/Mt Cook for four days from the 15th - 18th October.
The group stayed at Glentanner Park and experienced everything from glacier boating, search and rescue workshops, partaking in the Hooker Valley walk to watching an Aoraki/ Mt Cook 3D movie. They all enjoyed the stunning scenery in our backcountry and made the most of some fantastic opportunities. A very special thanks to Elizabeth Kennedy and Charlotte Gardner for organising this trip.
On the sporting front, we have had the CAIMS tournament and the South Island water polo champs.
Courteney Bull and Eden Foster took our A basketball teams to the CAIMS tournament. The girls finished 2nd in the girl's division and the boys finished 3rd in the boy's A division. Congratulations to both those teams on a very pleasing result. Our students can feel very proud of their efforts. We appreciate all the work that our coaches, Courteney Bull and Paul Isitt, have put into basketball this year.
Our water polo teams attended the South Island Champs last weekend. The A team came 2nd and the B team 8th. A special thank you to Shona McKenzie and Tom Straker for their time and effort in organising this. As always, we appreciate all the support from parents and whanau to make these things happen.
Our Athletics Day was held yesterday and despite a cold start, the day warmed up and students obviously enjoyed the various sporting activities. It was wonderful to see parents supporting their children.
We look forward to seeing parents at our Whānau evening on Tuesday next week where we celebrate the success of our Kapa Haka, Pasifika, Te Reo Māori and Te Whānau Horamātauranga groups. The performance begins at 5 pm and kai will be provided.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
