Josh Rae is a Year 8 from Room 15 who represents Casebrook in para-athlete events such as cross country and athletics.
Josh started competing in events like this two years ago when he was eleven years old. He has produced some great results and his proudest achievement so far is winning gold medals at AIMS games two years in a row. This year Josh has taken out 1st place at the CAIMS Cross Country at Halswell Quarry, the Inter-Regional Cross Country in Hanmer Springs and AIMS Games Cross Country in Tauranga.
Josh has also represented Casebrook in Table Tennis during Winter Hagley sport and at AIMS Games, where he placed 1st in the Para-Athlete section.
We wanted to know some more about Josh and his achievements since being a student at Casebrook so we asked him some questions about his athletic life.
Q: Do you compete often and what events do you like the most?
A: Yes, I compete often and my favourite event to compete in is long-distance running events like cross country.
Q: What age did you start competing and what was the competition?
A: I started competing two years ago when I was eleven years old and my first competition was cross country and I came first place.
Q: What are some goals for when you are older as a para-athlete?
A: I want to compete in the Paralympics as a para-athlete.
Josh is an amazing athlete who will be in a lot more competitions and we are sure he will get some more amazing results.
