This event was held in Dunedin over Labour Weekend and our two Casebrook Water Polo teams went to compete against schools from all across the South Island.
On Friday 25th October our two Water Polo teams travelled to Dunedin for a Water Polo tournament. This was held at Moana Pool.
To get there, they used the school Van and parent transport. They left Dunedin on Friday morning, and got back on Sunday night, lots of Water Polo! The teams stayed at Aaron Lodge Holiday Park. On Saturday night, the teams went to Lone Star for dinner, and on Friday night they went Ten-pin bowling.
The A team was undefeated until the finals, where they lost in a penalty shoot-out against Breens Intermediate. They came second overall which was an amazing result. The B team didn’t win too many games though they improved heaps throughout the tournament.
We have asked some of the players about the tournament:
Q: How long are the games?
A: Twenty minutes with five minute quarters. The games are hard work so you have to have enough breaks.
Q: What do you enjoy about Water polo?
A: It’s fast-paced, exciting, and loads of fun.
Q: Why did you join Water polo?
A: Because I wanted to try something new and different and I’ve ended up really enjoying it.
