The Casebrook Gymnastics team went to the Christchurch School of Gymnastics to compete in bar, beam, floor and vault.
The Casebrook Gymnastics Team included Lucy Thomson, Poppy Glavin, Olivia Lange, Sienna Yearbury, Hollie Cudd and Sophia Hastie. They competed on Wednesday 12th of June. All competitors had an amazing time. We interviewed Hollie Cudd, Olivia Lange and Sienna Yearbury.
Hollie
Hollie started gymnastics when she was seven years old because she wanted to start something new. Some skills she has learnt since she started gymnastics are back tuck, aerial, front handspring and back handspring. Hollie competed in all categories (bar, beam, floor, vault). She came 1st in beam and 5th overall in the school gymnastics competition. Hollie is in the gold level. Some equipment she uses are beams, bars and chalk. Hollie’s favourite thing about gymnastics is tumbling. She rates gymnastics a 9/10.
Olivia
Olivia started gymnastics when she was three and then quit and joined again when she was eight years old because she wanted to try something new. Some skills Olivia has learnt since she started are back handspring, aerial, front flip and round off. Olivia is in the gold/silver level. Some equipment she uses are bars, beam, vault, trampoline and tumble tracks. Olivia’s favourite things about gymnastics are routines and competing. She rates gymnastics a 8.5/10.
Sienna
Sienna started gymnastics when she was nine years old because her friends were doing it and gave her leotards so she wanted to give gymnastics a go. Some skills Sienna has learnt are round off, back handspring, kip on bars and back walkover. Sienna is in step four competitive. Some equipment she uses are metal bars, wooden bars, beams and vault table. Sienna competed in all categories (beam, vault, floor, bar) and she got 1st overall, 1st in floor and 3rd in bar at the school gymnastics competition. Sienna’s favourite thing about gymnastics is performing routines. She rates gymnastics a 10/10.
