A glorious sunny day greeted the Casebrook students last Tuesday after the rain of the previous week which had seen the postponement of athletics day.
Students competed in eight different events throughout the day to try and gain a spot in the Athletics team which will compete at CAIMS Athletics Day. A big thank you to the staff who ensured the smooth running of the day and to the parents who came along and supported. Good luck to students who have made it into the team.
The Capital Connections trip took place last week which saw forty student travel to Wellington for four days. The trip had an inquiry focus and students had the opportunity to take part in a number of activities. Some of the highlights of the trip were Parliament, The Great War Exhibition, Te Papa and Weta Workshop tours. A massive thank you to the staff and parents who supported this trip.
This week saw several Korean teachers arrive at Casebrook, they will spend the next three weeks working in classrooms in order to gain an understanding of how New Zealand teachers go about their job. This is a great opportunity for our students to learn about the differences in the Korean and New Zealand education systems.
Next Wednesday and Thursday evenings see S.T.E.A.M. + taking part in the school hall. The aim of the event is to showcase what happens in our specialist classes throughout the year. Please come along and see some of your students work on display and have them discuss their work with you.
Finally, yesterday saw another NZEI strike action take place in Canterbury as part of the rolling strikes that have taken part across New Zealand this week. Casebrook Intermediate and their Board of Trustees would like to thank you for your ongoing support with these negotiations. We realise these actions place a considerable inconvenience on our school families, but we feel these actions are necessary in order for teachers to be better supported and resourced which ultimately ensure a better education system for children.
