On Friday the 12th June our Edible Gardens group went on an exciting exchange visit to spend an afternoon working with the Riccarton High School Garden Club.
Their tutor Paul Johnson picked us all up in the school van and we worked alongside the Riccarton High School students creating a garden bed and transplanting young strawberry plants. The goal is for the two garden clubs to remain in contact with a further visit planned later in the year where we will go back and build a protective cover for the plants.
We had been very impressed with the Riccarton student's presentation at our recent Schools Edible Garden Hui detailing their endeavours and goals, and that was the springboard for our exchange visit. Our students had a great afternoon working together and learning new skills. The chickens were a real hit as well!
