Maliyah Seumanutafa-Naoupu is a member of the Hip Hop group “High Definition and Frame”. Maliyah and her Hip Hop group recently competed in Wellington at the Hip Unite competition. They gained 8th place. Maliyah has also received 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals since she has been a part of the Hip Hop team.
Maliyah’s crew trains for 14 hours a week when they are leading up to a competition. Their next competition is the High Hop Regionals in Christchurch where they hope to place in the top 2 to be able to move on to the New Zealand Hip Hop Competition.
Maliyah was first interested in dancing from a young age where she watched dance videos. She is inspired by famous New Zealand dancer Parris Goebel. We look forward to hearing about Maliyah’s success at the regional competition next term.
