On Wednesday, May 29th, Casebrook students took part in an exciting cross-country race around the block, divided by year and gender.
Cross-country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run races on outdoor courses over natural terrain. The Casebrook Cross Country was done around the Veitches, Northfield, Northcote and Cavendish Roads block. It was done on Wednesday, May 29th. The groups were split into Y8 girls, Y8 boys, Y7 boys, and Y7 girls. Every student of Casebrook needed to join in and have fun.
At the start of the race, all runners were informed that the serious runners should come to the front and the people who run for fun should go to the back so that the serious runners could do their thing. The top runners from surrounding schools will be competing against each other at Zones.
In the Y8 boys' race, Malachi Rattray took first place, followed by Adam Clark in second, and Linkin Curwood in third. For the Y8 girls, Chloe Johnson came in first, Mila Macioce second, and Arlia Wing third. The Y7 boys saw Baxter Stephens as the winner, with Cooper Trenberth in second and Zach Woodward in third. For the Y7 girls, Lilliana Roberts came first, Stella Au second, and Alia Jones third.
It was a fun and competitive day for everyone involved, and the top runners now have the chance to compete against other students from Canterbury zones.
