A quick update for our community about how we are tracking with covid and our response to the changes to large group restrictions as announced by the government - these came into effect at midnight on Friday.
Kia ora koutou,
Trust you are enjoying the weekend with the whānau and making the most of the autumn sunshine.
To date, we have had our fair share of cases - both in covid and close contact situations but have been able to manage them well as staffing has not been impacted in the same way, to date.
We have had 21% of our students* take time out with Covid and only 3 staff members*. We do expect this to grow, especially in terms of the impact on staffing.
*Numbers do not include close contacts who have stayed at home as required also
We have really appreciated the communication from parents and caregivers and this has enabled us to support learning from home. A reminder that students who are sick are not required to be doing school work, particularly in front of a computer - but if your child does require it, we have a system that is working well, including dropping devices home and emailing work options from classroom teachers.
Our team will continue to keep you informed if staffing becomes further affected by covid and will continue to seek practical solutions to the challenges that are likely to be continuing for a while longer.
The changes on Friday midnight to outdoor and indoor number restrictions do not have any major impact for us so we will continue with business as usual in a 'Covid red setting' at Casebrook.
Ngā mihi nui,
